Dorset Walled Garden
SUMMER ROSES DAY
DESCRIPTION
We have invited Troy Scott-Smith, Head Gardener at Sissinghurst, to come and speak and lead a guided tour through the (100+ varieties of) roses in the garden, sharing his invaluable knowledge collected over a long career in some of the very best gardens in the country.
Troy's knowledge of roses is both extensive and highly regarded, so all aspects of growing roses and their care will be discussed, from feeding, pruning and staking, to the different groups, types, varieties and how to select them. Troy will also divulge his favourites with us, but he never finds this easy! We will discuss ways of promoting good rose health and you will be able to see the roses here, that we have found to be best suited to our organic gardening principles. Our collection of roses (close to 400 in number), comprises English and French roses, old and new, shrubs, climbers and ramblers. This will be an informative and a pleasurable day, (stopping for a light summer roses menu lunch) at a time when the roses will be at their best in the garden.

The day will include coffee on arrival, a light rose-themed summer lunch and tea and cake at the end of the day.

Should you wish to book a place to give to a friend, we can send a personal gift voucher out to them. Please email us if this is the case.
